I bet you guys thought something happened to me. It's been forever! (And by forever, I mean 27 days...not that I'm counting.) The truth is -- something did happen. It's called SUMMER. Maybe you've heard of it. Basically, once a year my kids love me again. We hang out together and there's no rushing around to get them to school and sports and appointments or trying to force them into actually learning and finishing homework and reading entire books. We just LIVE OUR LIVES. (What?! Who does that?!)
Sometimes they just lie on the floor playing with matchbox cars that are a decade old. (Sometimes they just lie on the floor arguing about a single matchbox car that is a decade old.) We go outside...or stay inside. Libraries, pools, sprinkles, otter pops and scooters. If you haven't tried this whole Summer thing -- I totally recommend it.
Even though I am obsessed with summer... you know I can't forget about cookies either. And as someone who realllllly likes blue and red (and gray if we're being honest) AND was married a soldier for a real long time...Independence Day is one of my favorite holidays to make cookies for!! I like making platter cookies for the Fourth of July because it seems like there is *always* some kind of party or barbecue or neighborhood event that cookies would be perfect for!
