If you're one of my friends that comes around here very often, you probably know that I get together with Callye of Sweet Sugarbelle every December to host a ridiculously fun amount of giveaways from all of our favorite vendors.
It didn't happen this year.
I'm about to be real honest and open with you for half a minute and then I promise I'll get right to the giveaway. But you can also just scroll right on down too if you want.
Hosting the Twelve Days of Giving for most of a decade has been soooo fun! We love seeing the excitement from everyone entering AND everyone that is giving stuff away. It's like a world-wide company Christmas party...but with door prizes that you ACTUALLY want!
But when we started planning for this year's event in September of this year...it just felt off. Or maybe we felt off.
"It's been a rough year" feels as ordinary as the customary greeting - "Good morning" these days.
So many people are staggering through each day while grappling constantly with loss, misunderstandings, uncertainty, fear, discouragement stemming from disappearing hopes and dreams, loneliness, heartache, and just plain exhaustion from continued perseverance.
It's overwhelming really.
And we were.
We were overwhelmed.
So we made a decision to take this year off, to consider alternatives, and perhaps allow the giveaways to evolve into something more or better or just...different.
And honestly, we found peace in our decision. And we didn't regret it. Even when December 1st came around and there was no yearly celebration.
Then we had a Grinch moment. Not the bad kind... but the sweet kind where his heart swells all up in happiness and love.
Friends reached out to us...readers, vendors, online pen-pal type buddies and LOVED US. Not BECAUSE we were giving away a ton of stuff. And not IN SPITE of not giving away a ton of stuff. But simply loved us for us.
And because we don't have a giant sleigh nearly falling to it's demise at the top of Mount Crumpet to return...we decided to do the next best thing -- and host some completely unorganized giveaways that will probably be full of typos and an occasional broken link...but hopefully also joy and happiness this holiday season.
Enough chit-chat. Time for a giveaway!
