CookieCon is AMAZING. Seriously. It's an international cookie decorating convention that is held yearly at different locations across the world. The three day event starts on a Thursday with social activities and a keynote speaker.
It includes a full day of classes on Friday that cover pretty much everything you can imagine including topics like - airbrushing, teaching classes, running businesses, icing basics, and 3D cookie structures. Friday ends with a "mixer night" social event hosted by all your favorite vendors.
Saturday is a free for all with a giant open decorating room where you can practice EVERYTHING and try EVERYTHING. If it is a tool that exists in the cookie decorating world -- it's at CookieCon for you to play with along with someone to show you how it works. On Saturday, there are also smaller break out sessions on specific techniques like photography or icing textures. Saturday also has fun activities like decorating competitions and tasting events. There is a banquet on Saturday evening followed by some Cookie-Karaoke for those who just don't want the party to end!
AND....in addition to all THAT goodness...there is a giant vendor hall so you can give in to your instant gratification and get supplies from all the best supply shops - all in one place! This year the vendor hall is open an additional day to give you plenty of time to check out all the decorating goodness.
The Sugar Show is like an ephemeral cookie decorating museum. Attendees make cookies that fit a theme...or not... and display them for the duration of CookieCon. Cookies from all skill levels are welcome and encouraged and all are eligible for prizes!
Speaking of prizes... the whole place is covered in prizes! You show up - you get a bag full of prizes. And tickets to enter for more prizes. And every class you go to has prizes.
And if THAT wasn't enough - there are also two whole days of optional Add-On Workshops BEFORE CookieCon even starts! The Add-On Workshops are smaller classroom style hands-on workshops with a giant line up of amazing decorators.
So....basically...CookieCon is my most favorite thing that has ever happened to my cookie decorating life. And one of YOU gets to come to Louisville in February!!! (And you totally have to come find me and hang out! Because... I mean...COOKIE FRIENDS!!)
