Where are you December? (Sleighs)

I woke up this morning and saw that according to all the "x"s on the calendar,  it is now the END of December. WHAT?! How did that happen? I mean, I have some hazy memories of spending HOURS trying to decide what fun treats to make for my neighbors, but I don't actually have any memories of making any of those treats. I remember my child singing, "...jingle all the way...oh what fun it is to shoot yourself out of a cannon and into the house through a window..." (He's 4. What can I say? Oh, and you know what else? He got a pretend shaving kit for Christmas and the first thing he said was, "GAH! But the hairs don't come out of my face!") And there were some empty chocolate candy displays at the store and maybe a leaning shack of gingerbread in there somewhere.

But where were the carolers? And the MITTENS? AND THE SNOW? And... I don't know about you, but I certainly haven't had my fill of hot cocoa and soft lights and pretty music.

In fact, the only proof I have that December REALLY happened at all is this picture. And one of my daughter with a stuffed dog that is bigger than she is. But, you don't get to see that because actually she's terrified and its NOT a happy picture. Like, at all. The poor child. Ooh, and I guess I have these chocolate cookie sleighs. But, they are totally going to have to be eaten if they are to be believed. I mean, they could be a mirage or something, right?

Has anyone else's December turned up missing? Or is it just me? I mean, if this is big enough, we could probably report it to someone.  You know, get a task force down here and maybe some cameras or something.

P.S. Yes, I am fully aware that the lower half of my Christmas tree is bereft of all ornaments. It was not intentional. We have an 18 month old, and it just kind of happened over time. Like, over at least a 20 minute period of time.

Let's start a petition... Bring December Back!

Loving your sleighs and dreaming of eating your delicious chocolate cookies. My mom made the recipe the other day it was like the absolute perfect cookie for frosting. I don't really like frosting but its like chocolate cookie+frosting=the perfect couple.

Hope you had a great Christmas!

December? What was that? 2011 ? Oh, was that the whole YEAR that just flew by me?
Your sleighs are absolutely gorgeous! Any chance of a hint on how to make them?

So funny!!!!! Your blog posts make me smile! I love these sleighs. So creative and adorable! Oh, and the 18 month-old and the tree.... Can totally relate. I went from being bummed it took us till 2 days before Christmas to get ours up to instantly relieved when I relalized I was making no progress getting the ornaments on ours because they were floating around the room carried by tiny, magical, 19 month-old hands all night. He even tried to sit in the tree! Who does that?!?!?! Besides a bird as my older brother so lovingly pointed out. LOL!

Those sleighs are super cute! What a great idea. Our tree is now empty of ornaments on the bottom too... the cats took it upon themselves to undecorate it.

Boy can I relate to this. I have decided February is my month of giving. So my friends and neighbors can sulk thinking I forgot them, and then surprise! Valentine cookies....but I am a little sad Christmas slipped away

Okay, so these totally make MY cookie sleighs look completely pathetic. But that's okay, I forgive you, 'cause these are just so darn cute.
Oh, and the tree? Ours GAINS "ornaments" - my four year old discovered that the lower few branches make a fantastic dolly forest...

These sleighs are beautiful and so is your tree (even with ornament off the bottom part - that happens at my house too). And yes, December totally disappeared on me too! Happy New Year! hugs- Glora

Yes, December disappeared, but so did 2011. Seriously! It went too fast. Way too fast. I've loved seeing all your gorgeous cookies in 2011 though and reading all your funny stories. I even like your Christmas tree missing so many ornaments.... too cute. Your sleigh cookies look so fun! My son would flip over those! Happy New Year Georganne!

You're definitely not the only one. Where did it go? I didn't get to see the Grinch this year! I never made buckeyes! Or listen to enough Christmas music! And, yeah, no snow! *pout*

(That's the way my tree usually ends up, too. Between the kids and the cats, I only decorate the top half for the moment)

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the tree missing the bottom half of ornaments. That's priceless! I had to post guards at my tree, gates around it, move a table....the works to keep my toddler from destroying it.

December totally flew by along with the rest of 2011. Time goes by way to fast. I wish I could put it on slow play or something.

Your cookies are beautiful as always. The sleighs are perfect.

Love these sleighs!! December has passed me by as well in a dense fog. BTW - my brother ate 5 (yes, 5!) of the chocolate cookies I made for Christmas using your recipe. Then he took 5 more home, supposedly for his wife and kids. Yeah, right.
