heart of hearts

I'm going to let you in on a teensy tiny secret. I have a, umm, special friend and I don't know what to get him for Valentine's Day. I liked Valentine's Day a lot better when I was 11 and it was very clear what was expected -- a 2X3 card on which you wrote their name and your name and then you stuffed it into an envelope with a conversation heart or two. Or maybe it was attached to a heart shaped sucker. And sometimes it was okay if you didn't even write their name on it. But I'm pretty sure that you had to at least write your own.

But now that I'm ... older than 11... I don't know what to do. The very expected flowers or chocolates would be weird to give to a boy. I can't get him tools...that's not very Valentine's Day-ish. (Although, I have given him chocolate tools before.) And as you might be able to tell from the fact that I make my own cookie cutters...I'm not exactly what you might call a "big spender." I'm not going to book a romantic cruise for two through the Mediterranean. (Shhh. Don't spoil the surprise.) What am I going to do?

What do YOU do for your grown up "special friend" to say you adore them more than stale heart candy that may or may not be left over from the previous year's failed attempt at celebrating Valentine's Day?

Hmmm...boy gifts are always hard to find! At least for me. :) A nice watch, perhaps? (if you're feeling a little generous) :) Or better yet, why not these lovely heart cookies! :)

What?! No cruise? I won't tell. My hubby and I have never been on a cruise before. He says he doesn't like the idea of being somewhere he can't walk away to safety from if there's an emergency. LOL He's also not a mushy, feely kind of guy, so I do what I want because what he wants is nothing, and nothing doesn't work for me, so I make him a card. Yes. Hello, my name is Janis, and I'm a card-making addict. (your response here is, Hello, Janis). He looks at the card, reads it, and says something like, "That's nice." Hey, at least he reads it. LOL :) Janis

Oh, those look yummy!!! I just spend time with my hubby (he usually has to work); and make things with my little ones. Cookies, cards, whatever they want to do. Then again, I try to do those things all year long. :)
