Except in my neighborhood. My neighborhood is barren of these pink little gems because of some strange, cosmic imbalance that maintains my dwelling at a temperature at least 10 degrees colder than the rest of the town. And I will have to wait at least one more week to see them from the comfort of my pajamas. Unless, of course...I cheat and make some out of cookie branches and fondant.
These were a struggle between form and function for me. In order to make the branches edible they had to be twice the diameter of a regular branch. Otherwise, they wouldn't hold the weight of the blossoms. They would have been prettier if I'd just made them thinner and baked them longer so they were hard and crunchy.
But then when my 4 year old ate them as a special treat after finishing his very healthy macaroni and cheese... he would have cried because they tasted slightly of charcoal and he would have run to his room and cried some more and then when I tried to read him a book to make him feel better, he would have sobbed to me,
"Why don't you love me?"
So...I had to go with thick branches. I hope you understand.

I love this post. I hope your son one day realizes the things you do for him to prevent his soul from being broken.
What a great mom you are! These are just beautiful! I thought they were the real thing!
What mothers do for their kids right? :D What a wonderful mom you are! I thought they were real cherry blossoms when i saw your post on FB from the thumbnail and i was wondering cherry blossoms now? These are fab and so creative!
WOW! These are so beautiful! This is my second attempt at commenting because my google account was "logged out" for some reason and I forgot my password and of course the page decided to be in all Hangul so I had NO idea what it was trying to tell me! So, anyway I was going to say... I was hoping to grab a branch of cherry blossoms to press and keep in my scrapbook, but I waited too long. =( Oh well, good thing we're here another year!
I couldn't love them MORE. Who cares if the branches are a little bigger - they are edible and gorgeous. You are amazing. Those fondant flowers are PERFECT. Bravo! Hugs- Glora
The branches are beautiful! And what a sweet story. Take comfort in knowing that when he is 21, towers over you, and knows pretty much everything, you will still want to make his world just a little better. A mother's work is never done, for that I am thankful!
These are simply gorgeous and so so beautiful. Cherry flowers are one of my favorites.
These are GORGEOUS!!! My BFF Lives in Northern Michigan and cherry blossoms are a big deal there too. They even have a huge Cherry Festival! I'm going to go one of these days! You AMAZE ME!
I just busted out laughing! (nobody asked me why because I frequently do this so my family just ignores me). Anyway, GREAT post, GREAT Mom and GREAT cherry blossoms! Beautiful!
Your blog opened and the first words out of my mouth, aloud even, was 'Oh My Gorgeous!' So pretty!!! Great job

Wow! So realistic! Didn't even notice how thick the braches were until you mentioned it and it still didn't matter. Simple gorgeous!!!
These cherry blossoms are delightful. As pretty as the real thing!
I looked at the thumbnail on my reader, and almost didn't click on it, because I thought "here we go, it'll be a story about some pretty flowers in a vase..." But then I though "nah, normally her stories have something funny in it", so I clicked it, not realising that the cherry blossoms were FOOD!
My gosh, girl, you've got talent!
These are absolutely amazing....so beautiful.
I'd usually try to add something a little witty, but these have left me speechless....

I was showing hubby your picture here of the Cherry Blossoms in the vase and said "Aren't these CB beautiful?"
He looked for a moment and said "Hon! They're cookies. Or something to eat."
I looked at him with my straightest most sincerest look and puppy eyes [and doing a sly double take] said "I know that. I just wanted to show them to you." Aren't they cool?"
Swooh! Almost busted! I thought they were real too! *gRiN* =D Gorgeous! Gorgeous! GORGEOUS!!! But now that I fibbed to hubby, I won't have a chance in Venus of making these!! =D
